If you're uncertain if your presentation qualifies for the conference, submit anyway!

How to Submit a Proposal

First, make sure you're available to speak at the conference. It will be held on June 7 - 8, 2027 in Seattle, WA.

Record a 2-minute video

Talk submissions are done as 2 minute videos. Your goal here is not to produce a perfectly executed mini-talk, it is to describe your talk idea informally. What's the topic? How do you want to approach it? Why is it interesting? We strongly encourage you to include the following elements:

We won't make the videos public, so no need to worry about random Internet people seeing them. But we feel this is a good opportunity to start building a comfort level with talking about your idea in front of an audience.

The easiest way is to record it right in your agent: when you submit without a video link, your agent shows a recorder (or gives you a link to one in your browser) that records up to 2 minutes and attaches the video for you.

Prefer to record it yourself? Upload it to a public but obfuscated place, then give your agent the link. Some suggestions: YouTube (mark as unlisted), Dropbox, S3, your own web host.

Please double-check your URL in Incognito mode. Any video we can't reach will not be considered!

Submit with your AI agent

  1. Sign in. When you connect your agent (see below), it opens a page where you sign in with your email and a one-time code sent to your inbox. You only do this once; your agent keeps you signed in, and there's no password or key to copy around.
  2. Fill in your profile. Your agent calls create-profile. In agents that support it, a form appears for your name, location, social links and a few questions.
  3. Submit talks. Your agent calls submit-cfp. In agents that support it, a form appears for your talk's title, description and topics, pre-filled with anything your agent drafted, followed by a recorder for your video (or paste a link if you already have one). Submit one talk at a time; you can submit more than one.
  4. Check your submissions. Your agent calls list-submissions to show the talks you've submitted and whether each video went through.

Once your agent is connected (see below), try asking it:

Connect your agent

The server uses Streamable HTTP. When you add it, your agent will ask you to sign in with your email. Pick your agent:

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http cascadiajs-cfp https://cfp.cascadiajs.com/mcp

Claude (web and desktop)

Open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it CascadiaJS CFP, and paste the MCP server URL:

https://cfp.cascadiajs.com/mcp

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cascadiajs-cfp": {
      "url": "https://cfp.cascadiajs.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "cascadiajs-cfp": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://cfp.cascadiajs.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Other clients

Any MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP servers can connect using this URL:

CFP FAQ

What kind of talks are you looking for?

Sometimes it helps to see what kind of talks we've selected in the past! Check out our YouTube page for all the past talks, and feel free to subscribe to get notified when new ones get posted!

Can I submit if I've never spoken at a conference before?

This CFP is open to both experienced speakers and folks who have never given a big conference talk. The criteria we will use for evaluating submissions will be the same, and no added weight will be awarded to folks just because they've spoken before. Some of the best talks given at past CascadiaJS events have come from folks giving their first conference talk.

I've never done a video submission, what am I shooting for?

If you're still hesitant about the video, here's a suggestion. Forget recording for now. Stand up, in a place where no one can hear you, and describe your talk idea out loud. When you're done, start over and do it again, ten times in a row. With a two-minute limit, ten tries only take about 20 minutes. After your tenth try, you may feel much more confident.

Can I submit a proposal in ASL?

If you would like to deliver your talk using American Sign Language, we are here to support you! Once your proposal has been accepted, we will work with you to figure out the best way to make sure your talk is delivered appropriately to folks in our audience who don't understand ASL.

For the purposes of the CFP, please record the 2-minute video using ASL and include an attached transcript. Our Talk Review Committee will use both the video and the transcript to evaluate your proposal.

Do I have to use an AI agent?

Yes. Submissions go through an AI agent connected to our MCP server, which handles your sign-in, profile, talk details and video. If that doesn't work for you, email us and we'll help you submit.
